The Columbia Global Center Santiago and the Columbia Alumni Association of Chile hosted a special send-off gathering for the incoming students who will begin their studies at Columbia University in New York in 2026.
More than 20 new students attended the event before departing for New York to pursue graduate programs across Columbia’s different schools. The gathering provided an opportunity for them to meet one another, connect with members of the local Columbia community, and learn from alumni who shared their experiences of studying and living in New York.
Representatives from the Columbia Global Center Santiago, including its executive director and members of its team, also participated in the event. The Columbia Alumni Association of Chile was represented by members of its Board of Directors, including its president, Juan Somavía ’98SIPA.
The gathering reflected the strong connection between Columbia University and its community in Chile, while welcoming a new generation of students as they prepare to begin this important academic and personal journey.
